Emotions too raw for words surge onto the pages of a notebook. Layers of glitter, beads, flowers, butterflies, countless eyes, and red threads are used to seal impulses buried deep within. Each part, once a childhood treasure, now acts as a shield - veiling an intimate core, never meant to be accessed.

Although best known as a photographer, Mika Ninagawa is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans film, video, and spatial installations. She has received numerous accolades for her photography, including the prestigious Kimura Ihei Award. Ninagawa has directed five feature films, including Sakuran (2007), and the Netflix original series FOLLOWERS (2020). She has published more than 120 photography books and has held or participated in over 150 solo exhibitions worldwide. Her work continues to be showcased internationally. Her recent solo exhibition, NINAGAWA Mika with EiM: Lights of the Beyond, Shadows of This World (Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, January–March 2025), drew an audience of 250,000 visitors.
