Undyed and naturally dyed sacred hemp, knotted on Moleskine notebook Subject/Description
This work uses fibers from asa (sacred Japanese hemp), to stitch knots of thread onto each page of a Moleskine notebook. Since antiquity, knots have symbolized connection. In this piece, nothing is drawn; instead, threads are tied and layered in an act akin to silent prayer. Embedded in this repetitive gesture is a wish to seek ways for people to reconnect, rather than to be divided in conflict. Through the lens of this concept of harmony, MuSuHi seeks to reweave the “unraveling threads” of contemporary society and interlace the continuity of life into the fabric of the times. Archival Fund

MuSuHi is an art collective whose name comes from two Japanese concepts: musuhi, the spiritual force that generates and orders all things, and musubi, which signifies the harmony that arises when disparate elements unite and give rise to new relationships. Their artistic practice explores the balance of these opposing forces - yin and yang - as a central theme. Personal data
