Fine permanent marker and watercolour. Subject/Description
On the train of the Milan-Asso line I portray commuters every day without their knowledge, capturing fleeting moments of their short journey, transforming them into what I like to call “short stories of fantastic commuters”. Each Moleskine contains 29 portraits, no one has ever noticed anything. I draw directly with a fine indelible marker, without erasing, then in the studio I colour them with watercolours. Architect since 2000 engaged in various iconic projects, anachronistically I use freehand drawing with a set square, ruler and yellow tracing paper. I think with a pencil and listen with my eyes. Drawing is a primary need for me, a daily practice that gives meaning to the days, observing and translating into drawing. From 2014 to today (06/2025) I have portrayed more than 1500 commuters. I am not interested in being a good portraitist, but a lucid and participating observer of the world. In recent years I have exhibited my Moleskine and other drawings in numerous solo exhibitions dedicated to commuters and other fleeting visions of everyday life. Laura, Maria and Guglielmo are at my side in this project. Personal data
